Cleansing Toxins
The cells of your body naturally create toxic wastes as part of their normal function. This cellular, self-produced waste, is called endogenous waste. It is what the eliminative organs (the liver, kidneys, colon, bladder, sinuses and skin) were designed to handle.
Much of the food we eat today becomes toxic because it can’t be properly digested, assimilated and eliminated. All the processed foods, artificial ingredients, junk foods and fast food add to the toxic load of the body. This waste is called exogenous waste, waste coming from outside the body.
More exogenous waste is added to your body by environmental toxins. There are now thousands of toxic chemicals in the environment (by some counts there are as many as 200,000). Many of these chemicals find their way into your body.
Scientific studies have found that the average American has at least 700 synthetic chemicals in his/her body, chemicalbodyburden.org*. A landmark 2001 study by the U.S. Center for Disease Control tested 2500 people for 148 toxic chemicals and found amounts of most of them ineach person.
The CDC also tested the amount of toxic chemicals in newborn babies and found an average of over 200 chemicals. The most prevalent chemicals in the newborns were mercury, fire retardants, pesticides and the Teflon chemical perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), recently characterized as a likely human carcinogen by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board.
While the scientific proof that these chemicals cause disease is only just beginning to be studied, it is clear these chemicals add to the toxic load of the body. As the combined toxic load in the body increases, it can overwhelm a body’s immune system and eliminative organs. This can lead to minor ailments and more serious illness.
“The primary cause of disease is the accumulation of unnecessary wastes that are not properly eliminated, resulting in poison retention and subsequent health problems.”
